Security
J&M Connections installs CCTV, access control, and burglar alarm systems for small businesses, schools, universities, hospitals, warehouses, and government facilities across central Ohio. Card readers, door hardware and IP camera systems are cabled and installed by the same BICSI-certified team that builds a building's network — so nothing falls between two contractors.
What Security Is
Security, at J&M, covers three systems that are usually planned together: cameras that record and let you view a space remotely, access control that manages who can open which door, and burglar alarms that watch for intrusion after hours. Every camera and card reader needs a cable run back to the network, which is why the same crew that designs the camera layout also pulls the cable and installs the device.

Preferred Equipment: Ubiquiti
Where it fits the project, J&M favors Ubiquiti's UniFi cameras and door access for their quality. They run on the same UniFi system as the network, so video, doors and Wi-Fi can be managed in one place. J&M also installs cameras and readers a client already owns, or any brand specified. J&M is not a certified or authorized Ubiquiti dealer and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Ubiquiti Inc.
Typical Scope & Timeline
How a Project Runs
A security project typically starts with a walkthrough — J&M visits, counts doors and camera locations, and checks the existing cabling and network capacity. That's followed by a written bid priced for the specific building, not a package, and then installation: cabled, mounted, labeled and handed over.
The on-site walkthrough is free. We walk the space with you, then send a written bid.
Timeline
Every project is different, so the timeline depends on the size and scope of the job. Your written bid includes a schedule for your project.
Standards We Work To
The low-voltage cabling to every door and camera is installed by BICSI-certified technicians, and the team includes an RCDD for projects that need formal design review. Installations follow EIA/TIA cabling standards, the same ones J&M applies to structured cabling and networking work, because a camera or card reader is really a network device at the end of a cable run. Workmanship carries a 1-year parts-and-labor warranty, excluding damage from misuse; manufacturer extended warranties are available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does access control cost per door?
It depends on the reader type, the door hardware and the cabling distance to each door. J&M prices it in a written bid after a walkthrough, so the number fits your building.
Can you add cameras to a network we already have?
In many cases, yes. During the walkthrough, J&M looks at your existing cabling and network capacity and recommends what's needed to add camera coverage.
Is access control and camera work warrantied?
Yes. J&M backs its workmanship with a 1-year parts-and-labor warranty, excluding damage from misuse. Manufacturer extended warranties are available on request.
What network and camera equipment do you install?
J&M prefers Ubiquiti's UniFi line for switches, Wi-Fi, cameras and door access because of its quality. J&M also installs equipment a client already owns or any brand requested.
Do you install burglar alarms?
Yes. Intrusion sensors and panels are part of a complete low-voltage security package J&M installs alongside cameras and access control.
Can you add access control or cameras to a building we already cabled for you?
Yes. During the walkthrough, J&M looks at the existing cabling and network capacity in the building and recommends what's needed to add doors or camera coverage, rather than starting the cabling plan from zero.
